SFMOMA: JR: The Chronicles of San Francisco (2019)

With less than a year to coordinate and install JR: The Chronicles of San Francisco, a digital collage spanning nearly 2 full walls of the public Roberts Family Gallery, I was asked to imagine the work as-installed using basic floor plans provided by the artist’s studio. The central design challenge was in finding an elegant solution to masking the structure behind the screens, particularly when viewed from above. Following several iterations, communicating with the studio, fabricators, and the SFMOMA director and curator of the exhibition, we arrived finally at the slimly-silhouetted solution rendered below.
